Ovulation occurs when one or more mature eggs are released from one of your ovaries, pushed down through the fallopian tubes and are available to be fertilized.  This is the fertile time of your menstrual cycle. The uterine wall will be thick, prepared for a fertilization that could happen at this stage. The shedding of unfertilized eggs and the uterine wall is the time of menstruation. During each menstrual cycle about 15 to 20 eggs mature inside ovaries. Of these the ripest egg is released for fertilization. Which ovary releases the egg is fairly random.

When egg and sperm meet in the fallopian tube before the eggs dies, you become pregnant. An egg dies off after 24hrs of ovulation. To become pregnant, can sometimes be harder than you think. There are many factors, which decides ovulation. A menstrual cycle can happen without an ovulation and vice versa.  If you are trying to get conceived it is important that you write your first and last dates of your menstrual cycle.

Without performing a pregnancy test you cannot absolutely confirm whether you are pregnant. But there are certain signs; like missing a period can make you suspect that you are pregnant. There are pregnancy test kits available in the market, which helps you to find out whether you are pregnant.  These test kits are reliable tools to determine your pregnancy at a quite early stage. All pregnancy tests work by finding traces of female hormone HCG in your body. This hormone is produced by the placenta, which starts growing in the walls of uterus. But as the egg that has been fertilized attach to the uterus after seven days after conception, level of HCG are too small before that time. For this reason it is always better to perform the pregnancy test a day after the missed period. This will reduce the chance of a false negative test result.
