People in Malaysia love to socialize and enjoy shopping. No wonder it is a shopper’s paradise. As a people, Malaysians are very laid back, warm and friendly.

Geographically, Malaysia is as diverse as its culture. The country is divided into 2 parts, 11 states in the peninsula of Malaysia and two states on the northern part of Borneo. The country is blessed with scenic landscapes, humid mangroves and sandy beaches. Malaysia is quite contrasting in its surroundings, with sky scrapers on one side and ancient reefs on the other side. The climate is generally tropical kind throughout the year and temperatures vary from 700 F to 590 F depending on the altitude you are in. the country also witnesses’ different monsoons during different parts of the year.

Malaysia is a popular destination for tourists and so is it for shopping. The country is full of surprise with vibrant cultures and cuisines. Since shopping is very much a preferred hobby for the country’s residents and the numerous visitors that throng the country, shopping centers have been on the increase over the past few years. These shopping malls provide a rich and enthralling experience to its visitors. Almost all the shopping centers are centrally air-conditioned with escalators and lifts for easy transit.

Shopping centers in Malaysia are quite an attraction with a wide variety of products to choose and at the same time reasonably priced too. Shopping in Malaysia is one of the important things on every visitor’s “to do” list. There are a lot of options when it comes to shopping centers in Malaysia as these shopping centers compete with each other to give their customers the best of shopping experience. Though the shopping centers in Malaysia are more than a handful, the best of these can be categorized so as to make it easy to decide on where to go shopping in Malaysia.

Utama Shopping Centre- One of the top shopping centers in Malaysia is Platinum Award recipient of the "Shopping Complex of the Year" Retail World Excellence Awards 2006-2007 and National Creativity & Innovation Award 2005 winner has something for everyone from shopping, dining to entertainment.  

Ampang Park- This is the first shopping center in Malaysia.

Bangsar Shopping Centre- This one is a prestigious neighborhood mall serving the communities of Bangsar, Damansara Heights, Kenny Hills, Sri Hartamas and the nearby Petaling Jaya areas.

Berjaya Times Square- This is the largest shopping mall in the country and also houses the largest DIGI IMAX theatre in South East Asia.

Bintang Walk, KL- Located right in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, this is a much sought after one in this area which also houses two 5 star hotels, the JW Marriott and the Ritz Carlton. 

Mid Valley Megamall- A shopping centre with 430 shops on five floors located near Bangsar.

Pavilion Kuala Lumpur- This one reflects the tradition of Malaysia and South East Asia and also can be said to be an icon of international lifestyle trends in relation to fashion, cuisine, urban leisure and more.

Sungei Wang Plaza- Situated in Kuala Lumpur, this mall offers a variety of products under one roof, including clothes, soft toys, games, watches, bookstore, lifestyle items and entertainment.

Sunway Pyramid- Started in the year 1997, this mall is popularly known for its architectural shape that resembles a pyramid with a lion "standing guard" at the entrance.

The Suria KLCC Shopping Complex- Opened on 31st August 1999, this mall is spread over 1.5 million sq. feet and located at the base of the PETRONAS Towers in Kuala Lumpur City Centre. 

To conclude, shopping centers in Malaysia provide a great deal of entertainment as well as true value for money. These shopping centers provide a lot of other amenities for their customers like ATM centers, food courts, entertainment centers, play area for kids etc. With these inclusions, these shopping centers seem to be a place where most of the activities in Malaysia take place. The tourism department actively promotes shopping festivals which are a big hit not only with the local community, but also quite a lot of foreign nationals who visit this country to enjoy this extravaganza. So, the next time you get an opportunity to visit Malaysia, be sure you save enough to go around all these top shopping centers.
